Jane Harvey

President - Elect,
Association for Languages Learning (ALL)

Jane Harvey taught and managed both A level and vocational language provision in the post 16 sector. She is a strong advocate of language learning as a fun and enriching  skill for all. Her language project “Cucina d’Inferno” won both a European Language Label and the Mary Glasgow Prize for Curriculum Innovation in 2011. She has since completed two successful cross phase projects using “The Gruffalo” to teach German at KS2 and is currently working, again with Michelin star chef Franco Taruschio, OBE, on “Eurocook”, a project to show KS3 pupils how languages can enhance their employment opportunities in the growing hospitality sector  in Monmouthshire.

  • Analysing the decline of MFL uptake and asking how teachers and subject leaders can implement innovative strategies to enhance interest in MFL learning
  • Giving students more choice and improving learner autonomy – the ALL Languages Futures programme
  • Using projects which offer learners the chance to enrich the languages curriculum
  • Working collaboratively and creatively to inspire a love of language learning  in teachers and learners from KS2 to KS5
